If you want to see where I videoed this buck and others go to www.huntnspot.com and sign up for a free account.
I took this video on July 15th 2011 with a hand held CANON digital video camera. The bucks were anywhere from 30 yards to 100 yards. I first spotted them from 300 yards away and was able to get close using a a good trail. This huge mule deer has room to grow and should get into the 180's if his G2 & 3's get some more length to them. His main beams don't look bad and should grow several more inches before he sheds his velvet. Mule deer bucks can start shedding their velvet as early as end of August and as late as the end of Sept. Elk usually shed their velvet the first part of August to the middle of the month. It all depends on age, genetics, feed and climate when a buck sheds. The shedding process starts when the blood is cut off going under the velvet and antlers. When the blood stops flowing the velvet starts to loose its grip on the hard antler and the bucks seem to get an uncontrollable itch that can't be stopped until those antlers are nice and polished. Even then a buck can't help to rub his rack on trees, brush, stump, etc. I'll try and post more video as I get it this summer. I hope this helps get you pumped up for the up coming seasons.
In August sometime I'm going to be launching a new hunting website called www.HuntNSpot.com . You will be able to research new hunting areas and keep archives of your hunting areas and where you've seen game. Completely private and FREE! Subscribe to my YOUtube page and I'll keep you posted when the beta site will be ready.
I tried to sign up for your website. However. WTF is a beta key?
