u can put a million horsepower on a bike with a shitty frame and aerodynamics, and u can race it against a bike with a 10 horsepower lawnmower and the lawnmower would win

britstylez is right. MCN is biased, they'll say anything when the price is right. as fort he two brothers site, you'll see objective dyno readings there and same for the akrapovic website. you'll see the zx10r put out more hp from the rear wheels vs the r1. r1 has the least power of all the jap bikes if in stock form. the crossplane crankshaft only improved power delivery and did not make it more powerful than the other jap bikes.
r1 only has the best sound of all.

From what I saw, last year MCN had the Fireblade as the liter bike to beat in 08. Yamaha's improvement in usable horses throughout the power band is what clinched them to chose of the R1 for the liter class this year.

i've never liked yamaha cause of them ugly bowed out headlights. but the technology in the k9 does make it tempting though.

Are you fucked??? All my messages are about the R1's lack of midrange.They dont make power till 9000rpm. You ride them more like a wild 600 than a litre bike. I have ridden these bikes back to back and thats how to really tell.And as far as mcn they are on yamaha's pay roll. They always pick yamaha even last years shit model. Go to any other test and yamaha is dead last. I prefer to believe what i see and experience myself,not what some journalist tells me. All you just say the same crap.

even the new gsx-r 09 is outperformed by the new r1; 2,5" are it's a giant gap,suzuki did the same mistake of yamaha increasing the bore, doing that it just increase the highest numbers, but it decrease the power delivery in the "usable" range that are the range managed from everyday riders.
and there are many other thing to be said, one of these is that the new r1 09 is the most advanced machine ever done and steps ahead from competitors, it got ride by wire YCC,YCT and so on

so you think the best performer is the most powerfull bike? i think you never rode a litre bike to said this! even a master is not able to use the full power of these bikes!give a look at mcn round up of 2009 bikes, r1 2009 wins with over one second up to zx10! the best bike is the one able to put down more power not the ones with more at the crank, and the new moter it's able to do that and more with it's flat delivery, it runs out from the corner as a rocket, nothing a zx10 could do

I myself have rode for 11 years now. Ive owned everything from 1992 zx11 to a 00 R1 and my last bikes have been an 04 and 06 zx10r. I am a kawaski tech and actually know all the stats. Everything i have said is true about the FACTORY bike. All you guys do is talk about yamahas gp or WSB bike. Those bikes arent anything like what you buy off the showroom. why dont you check on two brothers site to see the 09 R1 dyno numbers and how they are down 9hp to the 08 ZX10R.
