HP Update

Just an update about what happened at the refund.

We got offered a display version of the same model laptop; or a "newer" model laptop. The "newer" model however, is only new in its model number and Windows version, its processor had a slower clock rate, slower FSB, smaller L2 cache, and 0.5" smaller screen, everything else is exactly the same.

We didn't take the offer and just take the money back, so we'll be shopping for a new laptop tomorrow!! Please comment if you got any tips to share!!! Thanks for joining Sunnz's adventure to get HP diagnostic software refund and getting a new laptop for a friend!!!

It is from DSE too so we could return it again LOL.

This time it seems to be a lot more solid, for the exact model and configuration and everything, he actually felt that the box is heavier this time!!! So we suspect that something really dodgy happened last time.

Compaq actually had a very interesting history, they started as a high end computer manufacturer just next to Apple and IBM, then suddenly they switched to low end cheap stuff which EVERYBODY was like "what the hell they are thinking"!!! But that turned out to be a great success and they gained much more profit then ever!!! I am talking about 10 years ago it is a very interesting read of the history.

Agreed, I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 and it's a great laptop but their tech support is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE :( Good thing I only ever rely on it for defects (Like the capacitor problem in the Dell Optiplex GX2 series.)
