  • Yup. I am Sensei's translator in Europe and have trained with him many times. He is a Menkyo Kaiden in MSR and one of the only two holders of the Jushin Hiden Books. He is performing Jushin Ryu, MSR is a synthesis of Jushin Ryu and Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu hence it looks similar. For every MSR kata there is a Jushin origin.

  • This is Ishido Shizufumi Sensei, 8th dan hanshi and Menkyo Kaiden. He is performing Jushin Ryu.

  • Yeah the double sayabiki is interesting. Be curious how the school explains it... as a timing thing I can see where it would be harder... Otherwise as a MSR practitioner I just find all the little difference interesting and intriguing. Always fun to watch a master in another art. Thanks for posting.

    Thanks the upload!

  • Thanks for that information.

Does anyone know if this style is taught in the US?

  • To clarify the levels : Ishido Shizufumi sensei is 8th dan Hanshi and demonstrate a school wich is known by few people. So comments on technical points is a nonsense to be polite.

And more for Proton1: should you approach Ishido sensei, over exuberance is not the word that would come first !

Then Spoonifer if I don't mistake is 7th dan Kyoshi. So arguing with him is quite pointless.

  • Can I just ask you to justify your position to be able to make judgements like this. How many years have you been practicing iaido and what ranking have you achieved?

It's just that I'm starting to feel like a geologist talking to a member of the flat-earth society.
