It would probably be cheaper to sew a thumb back on than replace the safety assembly on the saw =/

And you're not supposed to wear gloves when using a saw.

They tested it with a sausage going full speed into a saw and coming back unscathed. That should be good enough.

I think the problem is that the saw won't necessarily go through the glove cleanly, but snag on it and deglove your finger/hand or otherwise mutilate it before your finger comes into contact with the blade.

If you look carefully...the plastic part at the edge actually chipped out due to the stopping force...
