Hit "t" and that will bring up the transport control. There is a metronome icon there, toggle that..

I'd been around when MIDI was established, so I have a understanding of how it works, that's probably why it is easier for me. IF you have another keyboard, you might try connecting your keyboard to the other and try controlling the other with yours, you can do that, the one you are controlling is the slave, and yours is the master. You can control any number of keyboards or equipment, and you can control 16 independently, channel 10 use usually reserved for drum kits.

To record to the keyboard you have to have a cable coming from the out port of the keyboard to the in port of the adapter. Also remember that MIDI has 16 channels. If you play on channel 4 and it is recording from channel 1, it won't get any data.. I've only used midi with rosegarden with Jack. With jack it is easier because I can drag a line from the midi out of the adapter to the "record in" of rosegarden, within patchage. The device manager area I have never used before.
IT seems like the MIDI out from the computer is going to the midi in of the keyboard, but the midi out from the keyboard may not be connecting to the midi in of the computer. Make sure that the MIDI channel out from the keyboard matches up with the MIDI channel in, for recording, on rosegarden. I haven't played around a lot with Rosegarden, except when using it with Jack. Somewhere in my MPU-401 demonstration I show my Jack setup in regular (non-realtime mode). I'll upload another to show it.

My MIDI out was actually connected to nothing, It was just my MIDI IN inside the OUT port. Another thing I found when I set up JACK in Rosegarden is that the metronome no longer gave off a sound. Ideas?
