The day of doughnuts has arrived! That's right, June 3 is National Doughnut Day—the holiday created by the Salvation Army in Chicago in 1938 to celebrate women who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I. Fortunately for citizens today, national chains like Dunkin' Donuts and Krispy Kreme, as well as independent shops across America, use the day to tempt taste buds with free doughnuts. So, take a number!
