I was 16 when this album came out--I rushed out to buy it for the bouncy Top 40 hit "Mockingbird," her duet with then-hubby James Taylor, and was stunned by this song. I listened to it over and over again, unsure what to make of it, it was so musically different from anything else out there. The percussion and strings at the end just blew me away. Still do, all these years later.

Carl's lyrics find a place in your mind don't they? "How to turn down the noise in my mind", is a great lyric.

This beautiful lady, not just her looks, but her great voice, could show a few things to most of her contempery singers to this day

Some folks on this comment page need to learn..."How to open up and drink in all that white light, pouring down from the heavens"....sing it Carly.

This song just touched me. I'm not sure why. I was 14 years old when it came out,and it struck a chord with me. I used to listen to the AM radio when I went to sleep , and left it on through the night -and this was the ONLY song that would wake me out of a dead sleep when I was sleeping. Strangest thing. I still don't know what it's trying to tell me, but I'm just as mesmerized by it today.
