It was wrong to mislead the public but every politician does it... K Rudd has not delivered anything he promised in 07... Just a pathetic apology to the aboriginals. My problem here is the parents of these children put their lives and their childrens lives at risk by getting on these boats to begin with and that is just as bad as throwing them overboard....

well yea they can either get on a boad and hope to end up safely in Australia or they can stay in their country and be persecuted. Before saying things like this try to imagin why people are coming here, its not like we make it easy and they know this so they must have no other choice. Genocide is occuring in over 15 countries at the moment....

You are a fool to believe that this is the way we should be accepting assylum seekers.... These boat people pay thousands of US dollars to board these boats and Im sorry to say that if they have that kind of access to funds they are not assylum seekers, they are illegal immigrants who want to to have a new life in a fool hardy country like australia who is willing house them and pay for there new living.

A boat that recently was intercepted and rescued by indonesians had people on it insisting they be taken to Australia... Why would they do that?.... I will tell you why.... They paid lots and lots and lots of money to be taken Australia - Not to seek assylum in a safer country but to be taken specifically to australia..... Please dont even try to say that it is logical that we just continue letting these people in. the problem must be resolved in their country.

So your uncle was Peter Reith, was he? He blatantly misled the parliament and the public, knowing he was going to retire to his pension. He was the biggest villain of the lot, but he managed to escape censure by quitting. I would be deeply ashamed of the association if I was you. I certainly wouldn't use it as some sort of mark of authority on this issue. Read the Senate inquiry to discover the full extent of his culpability.
