This first studio version of David Bowie's perhaps most well known song was recorded in February 1969 with John "Hutch" Hutchinson on lead vocals for Ground Control. The song is about the feeling of alienation and comes soon after his split with Hermione Farthingale. The more well known version was recorded on 20 June 1969 and remains David's best selling single in the UK having been a hit twice over.

  • Love the organ in this, sounds like a B3.

  • Nice version: it reminds me to the demo, recorded before the split with Hutch (a career started with two splits of the original band/group; wow).
