Some of these tutorials are good, but the only thing that stood out for me was back tacking at the end of the dart. You should not do this as it adds bulk and can distort the shape. You are best to stitch to the point of the dart (shortening your stitches for the last 1 cm) pull your fabric and thread out for about 1 - 1 1/2 cm, and without cutting the thread sew and back tack 3-4 stitches inside the dart next to your original seam. There's a very good tutorial at threads magazine web site.

Terrible video quality, can't see anything that was done. Try putting the camera closer and using a higher contrast thread and fabric.

@therealamberla i don't understand why expert village's vids are all such poor quality. had the same prob on a vid about bicycle maintenance.

i couldnt even see what was on the fabric LOL

simplicity's patterns says its best to just sew off the dart edge and make a tiny know at the end because that little backstitch could cause a pucker. i've never done it with the knot. anyone have a opinion?

@burpolicious you don't cut off the excess material because it is really not a seam, it is used to make the garment fit and look better on your body

This was a lot better than the slow old lady on darts. It was fast and verbally descriptive enough to be more understandable than if every little detail were being followed with the camera. That's boring!

I thought this was an extremely simple how-to. Make an elongated triangle. Sew along your mark. I didn't even need the video to get how to do this, just the verbal explanation was enough for me. Thanks!

@burpolicious Pinking shears? Fray guard?

Thanks for this. It's sad that I'm in college, didn't get an explanation from my teacher, and had to YouTube how to make a dart. Thanks again. You should get paid for this.

Terrible...I've learned nothing.

I can't see anything you've done. The fabric and thread are too light colored to show up, and the camera is too far away from the action. :(
