I am greek and i totally agree with you. I think that the fact that we share common music and culture is something very interesting that we should be celebrating and evolving and not arguing about! Ross Daly mixes cultures so beautifuly and yet he is Irish!!!

@rossmdaly Hi Ross, a question, if I may. Is the connection between Ancient Greek modes and Persian Mayeh (modes) known and published? e.g. Aolian-> Nava, phrygian -> Shoor etc. Also is there any theory on the origin of the 3/4 tone interval? Any clues are appreciated.

@TheBykenyzan this is an anatolian music in TURKEY. accept it or live in a delisuon.

I teach a bit of setar on youtube. I have two videos that show my theory about how most persian modes are really derived from each other and their connection with the Greek ancient modes. I believe the origin of the quarter-tone is in wind instruments, a by-product of making reeds with a major scale. I think it is the tuning that makes the cura sound so different not so much the age. The age effect can probably felt a lot better when listening to the instrument close-up.

The tombak player is Keyvan Chemirani, the older brother of Bijan. and son of Djamchid
