Once again, Montrealers are lining the streets in honour of hockey legend Maurice Richard. But unlike the celebratory Stanley Cup parades of the past, the mood this time is sombre. Four days after Richard died of abdominal cancer, at age 78, he's being honoured with a state funeral -- the first for a non-political figure in Quebec's history. After saying goodbye, three of Richard's teammates talk to the CBC's Terence McKenna about playing hockey with the Rocket.

That look in his blue eyes is what SCARED opposing players shitless! But the whole of ice hockey is sadder for his passing.

  • I remember going with my Father to see the Montreal Canadiens Old-Timers play the Fort St John Flyers. Maurice was the referee along with Red Storey. I can't remember the score but I still remember those eyes and the fun I had with my Dad. Thank you Dad Thank you Maurice Thank you Hockey.

  • @gogologolala its in respect for what he's done for hockey and for quebec. its a thank you.

  • This funeral game reminds me of a final test we all will take. Pass or fail. Heaven or Hell. The Bible says that we will die once and then be judged by God. If you ever lies, stolen, lusted after a woman/guy, hated, taken God's name etc your on your way to Hell. But Jesus (who is God) came and died on the cross taking our sins upon His sinless self. We broke the law He paid our fine. We need to repent (turn away from sin) and trust in Him alone and we will be forgiven

  • @soccerchik151 My friend I am a French speaking Quebecker who watched in person a Bruins-Canadien playoff game in the late 60s. I believe... my dad who had season's tickets but hated sports, gave it to me. I went with my maternal grandpa.

Orr scored an amazing goal and the Canadiens lost the game.... but what a goal. He was a great player.

  • French speaking Quebeckers used to refer to the 3 Mauricesin the 50s:

Maurice Duplessis (quasi-dictator of Quebec 1936-1959,) Maurice Chevalier (famous French crooner) and Maurice Richard. (1942-1960).

He was that loved.... and respected.

  • this is the first time i see people clapping at a funereal

  • @aidanhd500 Gretzky may have played against shit all for goalies but everyone else in the league at the time was playing against the same goalies he was and still, 5 times, he had over 50% more points than the 2nd scorer in the league. People say Crosby won't be able to break Gretzky's records cus there aren't as many goals being scored these days, well Crosby hasn't even come close to winning a scoring title by 50% yet so even if it was the 80s, Gretzky would still outscore him heavily.

  • @gymguy25 DIAF

  • @SC87Wife who hates gretzky? ur just a little hater shut up u punk ... i dont think gretzky would have been suspended after gettin hit over the head with a stick and den retaliating and gettin hit while the referee his holding him.. shut up udont know anything of his struggle ROCKET IS A HERO
