I love this version I love all your videos Kylan you are really talented, you inspired me into playing Tiger Rag. I first saw you playing it before l heard Tatum and I never saw anything like it. And so young that inspired me even more.. Thanks for posting!

Wow. do you know where I can listen to or get the recording that was transcribed from? I heard two other recordings of him playing it, but I think I like what he did in the version you played better.

@PianoManSam2 Yeah I'm actually not sure where the recording of this is! I learned this from a book I have of Art Tatum transcriptions, and yeah it's my favorite of his versions of this song, glad you like it!

Thank you for listening! I'm particularly proud of this performance, but it's nothing like the man Tatum himself...

I don't understand: how do you have a large repertoire of unmemorized jazz (there's no scores for playing this the way you're playing it)?

Actually, I'm cheating!
There are in fact scores for some of these tunes--they can be found in the Hal Leonard published "Artist Transcriptions" series, which is dedicated to recreating note-for-note transcriptions of recordings of the greats of yore.
That being said, a transcription is not the piece itself and can only be accurate to a certain point, and when in doubt, I always default to the original recording, although I frequently add my own "flair" to the music. Artistic license!
