Italian dj Spiller made a huge dance hit using samples from an old Salsoul gem, Carol Williams' "Love is you". In this video, I first "extract" the samples from the original tune and then recreate "Groove Jet" main beat by putting them togheter and adding some effects, all using Ableton 6. Have fun and rate, comment and share on your blog if you like!

  • I couldn't see it clearly in this video, but where there any Pitch adjustments or did the Key have to be changed?

    Maybe some Filters in use??

  • @ThomasWhatever Hi, actually there are no changes in the key, that remains the same of the original tune. Maybe I didn't get the point... could you explain it better?

  • @dudeweresmycarlol

There were no vocals on the original Groovejet ;-)

  • aalready made a full version. not quite there yet

  • Now it's only missing Sophie ;) still, nice work!!!

  • spot on mate... well done

  • You did a really nice job demonstrating How to sample. I've done all this before but not using a computer. Really nice job, although you titled it "How to make a hit" . No one wants my work. They say it's great. Then they say to get copywright. Then I preform live and they dont want to pay me although they love me. another excusse is To get radio airplay, You need a label. How do you get a label when you're always rejected, and they say you're great? Listen to my song Runaway and you tell me.

  • grazie a te ho trovato la canzone ORIGINALE!!!!!

  • You forgot to get Sophie in to do a vocal

  • Nice work.

  • Thanks for your Answer ;-)

The small resolution of the Video (damn YT) makes it hard to notice which changes you make ^^

Btw - Very impressive Work of DJ Spiller! His song consists of nearly only a few samples of only one Track. And he didn't even had to change the Pitch or use a Pitchshifter and it sounds perfect.

I'a a big fan of samplebased music now. I know this song for a long time, but I never thought that this song is basically made of samples only.

Hope to see more of your work ;-P

  • Nice mate ;),keep doing your stuff :),cheers from Latvia :)
