I like your version a lot. This is also a favorite song - I wen to HS with Jon Brion in New Haven back in 80's - he was genius then, and he's genius now - completely missed the whole self-destruction cliche that effects so many artists.
I'd love an instrumental version so I could teach my kids to sing to sing it!
Not sure I love your dedication to the tempo. I feel it removes the heart of Jon's performance. You play beautifully and I love that you love the song as much as I do. I have a large portion of the notes figured out which is difficult because of the layering in the recording. I'm trying to create as close a reproduction as possible. Maybe I'll post the notes when I'm done. Thank you for sharing your cool performance.
I don't think anyone has put the chords to this song online yet. Starts in A (2 bars) to Em (2 bars) back to A (2 bars) to Em (2 bars) with an Eb passing tone in the bass on the way to D (with interesting changes I haven't figured out for 2 bars) to F#m (1 bar) F#m7 (1 bar) to Bm with a descending bass line (D, C#, Bm7/B, Bdim/A), F#m (1 bar), F#m7 (1 bar), Bm (2 bars), A (2 bars).... or something like that. :)
Brilliant! Love the little Casio parts (would be just as good without the percussion though). Possibly my favourite Brion song, shame there's no sheet music online for it, I've got as far as it beginning in A...long way to go! Good job!
