@theabomation education is a long term investment that is guaranteed to stimulate the economy. war gives money only to a few wealthy defense contractors and debt for everyone else. to what money are you actually referring to that war is supposedly generating?

Defence is always i big hole in the budget, but the bailout is something completely different. First, most of it are emergency loans that eventually will be PAYED BACK to the taxpayers. So it's not that you lose all that money. Next, the damage to the echonomy could be tremendous without it. The Democrats did it, the GOP would have done it, just like every government on the planet would have done. Don't attack the bailout, attack the policy that led to it.

I ( alas ) live in England, and I often ask the same questions this chap asks. We cannot afford ( according to our Govt. ) to pay for drugs that will attenuate and delay the effects of cancer - for example. Yet we always seem to be able to stomp up tens of thousands of millions of pounds to bomb our "enemies." It seems to me that "enemies" must be bombed, and Banks must be bailed out. This is not good, because there`s always another enemy.....

One man has 10 apples. he eats an apple a day and picks 1 1/4 apples a day (average). his governement taxes him .5 apples a day. they want to increase taxes to 1 1/4 apples a day to pay for their budget, what do you think will happen? He'll starve. you can't tax more and expect to get more.

We need to take government's nose out of our lives and use it for what is for, spread the common effort into bettering our lives. Make states to develop solar, wind power even nuclear and crush the energy monopolies bring energy that is as cheep as tap water to everyone and that is where the true change will begging, when money don't control the necessities of life, money will lose some of its corrupting power, the rest is up to us to control.
