This years series:
Attitude returns for its fifth season with a new look and some big plans for 2009.
Spearheading our stories from New Zealand and around the world will be experienced reporters Tanya and Curtis. The rookies from 2008, Kristy and Dan, will be stepping up more this year, and just quietly, watch out for some cameo appearances from two of New Zealands favourite Paralympians: Kate Horan and Cameron Leslie. Not sure what Curtis has in store for me, but bring it on! says Cameron.
Beyond our reporters, the Attitude Family has grown tremendously over the years, and to showcase this we invited a few of our friends along to be part of our new opening titles sequence. Check out the fun and laughs we all had with a special behind the scenes look in our first episode.
Away from the studio, the Attitude team has started the year by filming in a winter wonderland. They followed the successful New Zealand Special Olympic team to the USA for the Winter Games. From winter to summer, back here in New Zealand we have also been sailing with the Kiwi Cup regatta and Surfing at the Mount.
Although it seems like a sporty start to the year, we will still be reflecting all aspects of the lifestyles, issues and interests of people with a disability. The documentary style show went down a treat in 2008, where we went in depth and spent an entire episode with one issue. Look for more of this in 2009.
As much as we are humbled with the expectation to advocate and inform, we like to do it with a little panache and creativity. Trust Curtis to come up with a new and exciting way to mix the issues with some entertainment this year: I want to push the boundaries of what society thinks people with disabilities can do. Look out for his series of episodes that will feature travel, fun and adventure.
Above all, we will continue to promote the positive lives of New Zealanders living with disabilities. Our goals continue to be to inspire people living with a disability to get out and live life to the fullest, to provide strong role models for our young people, and to inspire change. Attitude is Everything.
