  • ever herd of laser radiation it can make you blind or start to go blind read the fin print on the blu ray disc drive before you take the cover off it says class 1 laser could blind you if exposed

  • @RyanWed18 Since when can you go blind looking at a video of a laser??

  • Do you really think I am that stupid enough to directly look at a laser? Why in the hell would you assume I looked at the laser??? Why can't I post a simple video to show others the proper operation?? Have I broken some law you are trying to enforce?

  • I got from a US seller on EBay. Just do a search on PS3 laser. Beware of sellers that are outside the US.

  • This is after the repairs. What you are seeing is the optics looking for the disc format. Blu-ray (blue), CD-ROM (bright red), and DVD (dim red).

  • Mine flashes blue twice and thats it...doesn't play games but does play DVDs???

  • Ok so ive changed the laser on mine and its doing the same exact thing, but wont read the disk...do you know why? plz respond. thank you

  • I took my system completely apart only to put it back together and realize it wouldent load a disk either. Problem turned out to be aa broken wire. I beliee it is called the blu ray sensor wire. I just pulled out the broke part and had enough slack to hook it back up were it belonged. It was the really thin white wire that sits on the blu ray drive. Black wire directly next to it.

  • How do you do this caus mine won't spin the disk so idk if its the thing that holds it n or if the laser has something to do with it

  • First thing it does is check for a disc with the Violet laser, if found it spins up the disc. If it's a Blu-Ray disc it skips the other laser checks, if not it then tries to identify DVD or CD with Red then IR laser, alternating lasers. If the Violet laser is too dim or out completely then it won't even bother spinning the disc, or using the Red/IR lasers. So if your Violet laser is too dim or dead it will take out your DVD and CD capabilities even if the respective lasers for those are fine.

  • @ownageman1240 What is 1mm radiation? Do you mean the size of the focused beam? Who is viewing said laser for prolonged time periods? I just watched this video for 3 hours and my eyes haven't suffered any damage.

PS3s should not be run in the open in general, as dust can build up and damage them. They should left in their box and placed in a vacuum, and then sealed in a 7 meter thick lead tungsten carbide chromium barrier surrounded by a level 10 force field and sent into space for eternity.

  • my laser doesnt light up. Does that mean i have to replace it? Because im having problems with the drive and i dont know the problem.

  • Wait....isn't it supposed to be blue followed by red followed by white (blue ray, dvd, IF for CD)? Cause I swear I just saw violet first...

  • Rule of thumb tends to be if you can't look at it, don't point your lens at it. I feel like I shouldn't even be looking at it through a computer screen...

  • how do u run the test u retard wanna put some more info if u makie a video !
