On April 24th, 1971, my friends and I marched in Washington D.C. against the war in South East Asia. This was one of the largest protests against the Vietnam war which was now spreading into Laos and Cambodia.
@ginlynn: This isn't "putting down the military". Check out Vietnam Vets against the War. It's putting down the people who sent them to fight a bad war where we were never going to do any good. Ever hear the expression "lions sent by jackasses"? I can respect lions, I have no respect for the jackasses. They profited off the war while soldiers paid the real cost with their lives. As for draft dodgers, let's talk about the children of those same jackasses, who always were someplace SAFE.
Thanks for the memories, weatherhed! I was there -- I even was a marshall on the 24th. That whole few weeks from mid-April into May is still sharp in my mind.
I have no repespect for bainless blank heads who follow orders and kill and murder woman children and villages...
I have no respect for worshipping a military that is out of control...I have respect for those who have not forgotten we have a consitution and the Vietnam war--and the crimes of todays wars still need to be faced in the world court and the rumsfelds and cheneys and macnamars need to go to prison...and those that follow them should end up in prison also.
If not for these people with conscience, protesting the way ... we would STILL be in Vietnam !

@greenwoodtea Thank a vet for the freedom you just expressed. If not for our military you just put down you would not be able to say it.

I just saw Forest Gump tonight and it reminded me of that great time in 1971 when I was there in DC
