The Giants started the night by honoring their past outfielders, and left fielder Dave Roberts, who entered the game as a pinch-hitter in the sixth, got hits in each of his three at-bats. His 10th-inning leadoff double sparked a Giants comeback capped by Aaron Rowand's walk-off single.

Hiroki Kuroda pitched eight strong innings and Jeff Kent belted a go-ahead homer in the 10th inning to put the Dodgers in position to claim first place in the NL West. Jonathan Broxton blew the save, however, giving up two runs in the bottom of the inning to take the loss.
