Grazie Tito

Outstanding! Viva il bel canto!

This clip alone shows why people who have remarked on other Tito Gobbi clips that he had a poor technique were & are talking out of their backsides! All singers pick up poor vocal habits eventually to a greater or lesser degree over time, especially when they employ their voice like a chameleon to depict character like Gobbi. But in his early carreer it employed a technique without flaw, which is WHY the voice was so beautiful & adaptable.

does anyone know if there is this movie in full?

Gobbi—gran' dio...greater genius never lived

I saw Bergonzi at the Met every year for 30 years starting with Rodolfo opposite Tabaldi.
Gobbi was the quintisential Scarpia. Both are great maetros.

BRAVO TITO !!!!!!!!

Bravo Gobbi. Fortunately I saw him as Scarpia @1972 a chilling portrayal.
The same man who song Iago and Rigoletto song Falstaff and, with the same facility, Belcore. Truly, the best.
