http://YouTube.com/SXSWLawnParty Baltimore bruisers Lower Dens proved why they are known as one of the most enthralling live bands around.

Lower Dens, led by the endlessly intriguing Jana Hunter, have been touring incessantly since the release of their excellent debut album last year, Twin-Hand Movement, on Devendra Banhart and Vetiver frontman Andy Cabic's Gnomonsong label. Their brand of woozy, atmospheric guitar rock was the perfect sound for a hot Texas afternoon on the Hill Stage at our Lawn Party (maybe due to Hunter's own Texas roots, though the band is based in Baltimore), and the group's time on the road has helped them hone an intense and seemingly telepathic set of sleepy, gurgling and grinding psychedelia.
