Great video! I love how you keep showing how the Christ is behind so much of the messages given for us in the scriptures, providing everything, enduring copious abuse from people in and outside the church and yet patiently, lovingly continuing to offer His saving grace and to forgive everything we have done. May He richly bless you, your work and your family.
It's crazy how stupid we can be with words. The translations say "blessed", we like to keep the old word "beatitude" but never teach what it means. I've been churched for 27 years now (since my birth) and only about a year ago did I actually realize a had no idea what the heck beatitude meant. So I did something I was never ever taught to do (gasp!). I looked it up. Supreme Blessedness, thanks be to God. Pastors, you aught to make a habit of defining the key words for us. Please!
@HulkofSteel Im not entirely sure why X-Men, but we did have a class at the Seminary about Christianity in Popular Culture. Superheores in general are some sort of literary Christ-figure.
We are 2 years into a trek OUT of Baptist Evangelicalism, of which you perfectly describe the 'abused and maligned' Beatitudes teaching. We sat in a Rick Warren/ John Baker "Celebrate Recovery" program for several years and were told to 'be happy' (accompanied with tambourine-bangin' and all...) centered around a list of BEEcursitudes!! In His Faithfulness, the LORD has brought us under Lutheran teaching, into a Lutheran Church and provided for us learned Lutheran men (like you, Pastor Fisk)!

Love the X-Men pics! Great presentation on the Beattitudes! Kind of like Gibbs's commentary coming to life!
