How to Build a Minecart Station with Pistons - Additions: PEZ Dispenser Overflow Protection

In this video series, we take a look at using the new pistons added in 1.7 to automate a minecart station. In this video, I show you how to add overflow protection to the PEZ dispenser we built in Part 2 of my original station tutorial.

@LONcreeps Maybe it's a matter of opinion to some degree, but personally I feel that it's helpful to know the reasons WHY a person is doing something, rather than just getting told "do this, then this, then this".

A list of instructions is great if your only goal is to reproduce the design block for block, but if you really want to understand why something works (and how to fix it when it doesn't work), then I think a little more detail is important.

Wouldn't it be better to have the departure zones detector rail send power to a rail which the overflow'd carts sit.

This would utilize the overflowed carts instead of just having them sit there :p

Hey, i've recently gotten to interrest in minecart stations, and i have made one of my own. Pez dispenser, direct cart dispensing, track chooser, loader and overflow. Is it possible that you can show your whole minecart station? I want to see everything together, since i dont really feel like going through all your videos to see which ones work and which doesn't. Thanks in advance!

Actually, the same thing can be done with less work: Simply use another detector rail as close as possible to the piston and prolong the signal transmission with repeaters. The amount of repeater is of course dependent on the distance between the detector rail and the pit. The piston should be activated after the minecart has fallen down the pit.

With this method, neither the pulse generator nor the torch chain is needed.
