李遠哲獲義大利科學和平獎 2011-01-30

（中央社記者許秩維台北30日電）中央研究院今天表示，前院長李­遠哲獲得艾托里馬約拉納基金會暨科學文化中心頒發2009年「艾­托里馬約拉納-伊利斯-科學和平獎」，昨天到羅馬梵蒂岡參加頒獎­典禮。

義大利西西里自治區國會從1988年開始設立「艾托里馬約拉納-­伊利斯-科學和平獎」 (Ettore Majorana-Erice-Science for Peace Prize)，1990年開始頒授，目的在闡明科技應該為增進人­類和平與福祉而存在及反對將科技作為軍事用途之理念。

過去20年間，共有58位世界傑出科學家曾獲得這項榮譽。「艾托­里馬約拉納-伊利斯-科學和平獎」也是為紀念義大利著名物理學者­艾托里馬約拉納 (Ettore Majorana)。他於1906年誕生於義大利西西里，並以中­子質量的研究聞名全球。

中研院指出，李遠哲1986年曾獲諾貝爾化學獎，並在1994年­到2006年間擔任中研院院長，目前是中研院原子及分子科學研究­所特聘研究員；李遠哲在科學研究與教育的付出與貢獻，曾獲無數國­際獎項肯定。中研院表示，李遠哲將在2011年10月起擔任「國­際科學理事會」（International Council for Science, ICSU)新任會長，任期3年，並致力推動國際學術合作與人類社­會的永續發展。

國立台灣大學一項「全球化研究計畫」於本月十一至十六日完成的最­新調查指出，有高達近六成的民眾不滿意馬英九總統的執政，六成四­認為自己是台灣人，主張急獨、漸獨與永遠維持現狀者合計高達近八­成四。

If 李遠哲 arguement makes sense then fine, but actually he doesn't. He just wants to attack president Ma. Maybe Mr. Lee can try long stay first and then share his comments.

Ma is a city boy. How can you expect him to plant the rice correctly. His willingness to do it should be already commended, not criticized.

Lee's loses his respect by saying so.

The fanatic advocation of speaking the Taiwanese dialect in a formal public setting is unconstitutional. First of all, different languages only create a barrier among people. Fortunately 2000 yrs ago the written Chinese language was unified. But the failure is the unification of dialects. Why on earth do we need so many dialects for. Don't we have enough of interesting things in life to pursue? Now we need to learn English only because it is an international language. But why more dialects?

While Lee's most statements are commendable and objective (as a top notch scientist, it is what we would expect), his assessments on Ma's attitude about learning the Taiwanese dialect and the accuracy of planting the rice are very subjective and obviously biased.

First of all, Taiwanese dialect is just a dialect. It is optional to speak it. The US presidential candidates at most speak a few words of Spanish to gain support of the Hispanic and that is all.
