I am trying my desktop system to see how it works when demonstrating a bowl. It is easier to do than with my other camera on a tripod, but I am not so sure the sound is as good - so let's see.

  • I would guess you already have Chinese suppliers, but if you need anything purchased from central China you can let me know :)

  • My experience with modern Chinese bells and gongs is that if they were made without a heart - if they are trying to copy Tibetan Singing Bowls - or else they are made for Kung-Fu, the Lion Dance, in which case they are too dissonant - they do not adapt so well to western music. tastes, or for use in a modern percussion rack.

However if you know of a Chinese village area which has a long tradition of bell-making I would certainly like to hear about it, and what kinds of products they make. Tony
