Your "accent" does sort of sound as though you are from california. That may be because most american television shows and movies are filmed in california.

One more comment -- if you're trying to sound American, don't forget our lovely word "gotten." I'm pretty sure you said "I actually think I've got worse." American would be "I've gotten." We'd most likely pronounce it with a glottal stop, i.e. like "go'en." But you're doing great. I'm working on learning a British accent and if I were anywhere near as good at it as you are at American, I might have the nerve to post it on Youtube too. Kudos for going for it.

I don't think that speed of communication is what makes an American accent believable. Honestly, I think it has more to do with language conventions of American English, if I may phrase it as such. Primarily, we use a lot of "short-cut" words via conjunctions such as "don't" or "can't" or "isn't" and we have a lot of words that don't follow proper English language rules. Utilizing those as well as attempting the accent will go a long way toward making the ruse complete. ;-)

@htfcm I was being an ass, more or less. The point I was trying to make is that she could come here and totally pull off being a native. In this video you're aware that she's not American and therefore your ears are picking the pronunciation apart.

dont say "quite a lot". just say "a lot". saying "quite a lot" is too proper for america =P and also, you do too much upward inflection on your words. like when you say, "i cant really explain it, it just sounds different." american accent has more of a downward inflection on the end of the words. does that make sense? your accent is very good tho.

you may need to step back from it a bit and let it go. you have an ear for the accent. some people just have it and some don't. you got it. don't work so hard on it. your ear for the sound and natural ability when you're not trying as hard is serving you well. you may need to practice a bit when you're going after a particular dialect, but once you can mimic the basic sounds, you'll have it. my husband can do several accents well, whereas my attempts suck balls. ;)

i've seen all 3 of your videos, and your accent is excellent! great job. you sound very natural. having said that, i think you may be working on it too hard. i was surprised to hear you say that you thought you got worse, so i listened to vid 1 again. i agree. i think hyour fist vid was the most natural sounding. listen to hyourself in vid 3 min 1:37 when you mention talking with your hands. while your accent is still very good, it's not as good as in vid 1. i believe your over thinking it.

@Sunsetspawn You couldn't hear the English accent slip in and out?

hey, so Im from Ft. Worth, Texas, United States (near dallas) and I cant tell when your using your accent and when you aint. You dont sound like a yankee or like one of our east coast friends. You sound more like.....well....not stricly California, maybe like someone I heard from Oregon once? I mostly been round down here (as in Texas ans Lousiana. If youd like I can post a vid of me talking on my channel and you can get an idea) Any questions feel free to message me.
Tbh I think your American accent in the second video was better. But yeah this was really awesome. xx
