Creative project for my english class. A slideshow of images representing a recurring dream of mine and the meaning of the archetypes within it. The dream starts with a war in our families home. The house is blown apart and my parents eventually die. The dream then switches to my siblings and I running for our lives. We are being pursued by figures of the unknown. My brother tells my sister and I to hide in a closer where we are soon found by our "enemies". At this point we finally see who they really are, our step parents. The symbols of the dream are:
house-our soul or foundation
death of my parents-a transformation
war- turmoil inside myself
running and hiding- avoiding a situation
being pursued- refusing to accept an idea
closet-knowing the truth but not accepting it
being found- realization is on the horizon

I realized this dream was about my needing to accept my step parents traditions more. I have always been uneasy about doing things their way on holidays out of fear of losing the traditions my parents instilled in us as kids that seemed to have been thrown away with their divorce. Thanksgiving this year, after a fight about the stuffing not being the way we used to have it, I realized even though my parents have left behind the traditions they still live on within my siblings and me.
