  • Who or what is this GOD you speak of? I can't worship that which has not made its presence known to me. I think I'll just continue worshipping the almighty dollar.

  • Yea money has been so reliable lately! Go ahead! However, that is not a recommendation. I'm just allowing you to express your feelings about the creator of the world you live in and the creator you don't yet see or recognize as God. Faith, my friend, faith. You don't think twice about breathing oxygen, yet, you don't see it! You're thankful for oxygen when you have choked or had the wind knocked out of you, yet you didn't see oxygen. Seeing isn't always believing. Take Care.

  • @chill4625 Have you read Case for Christ?

  • I no longer believe in a creator. Believe me, I've spent a lot of time researching, soul-searching, philosophising, theorizing, and thouroughly thinking this through before clearing out the christian brainwashing that took place during my childhood. Now as a proud athiest, I worry not about fairy tales and the various gods who might be offended because I've chosen to think rather than blindly believe any of those ancient texts. And I'm happier for it. May I suggest "The God Delusion" to you.

  • You're still using the scripture out of context. Sorry but you're losing your right to speak freely on this topic.

  • If the supreme being didn't want you to do something, looking at the rest of the bible, he'd just come out and say it.

    Leviticus 20

20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Say what you want about Yahweh, but he has a knack of utilizing "ifs" when dealing in certitudes

  • :-) You have to know the context. Read and study God and the book of Exodus. God is distorted when people with preconceived ideas or assumptions try to interpret scripture.

  • You do realize God isn't condoning the act of slavery don't you.

Key word is "IF." God isn't advocating to sell daughters into slavery.

Secondly, it can also mean to allow a daughter to go and work for the family so the daughter makes money for the father and the family. Notice is says, "sell his daughter TO BE a maidservant" not to be a slave, not for evil, but possibly for work.

So if interpreted the "if" wrong i do argue my second point as well.

  • So just to get this straight, in what context would it be acceptable to sell your own daughter into slavery?

My point is, why worship a god who would mandate such barbarism.

He couldn't command my respect, let alone deserve my praise.

If I were to call someone a friend, it would always be dependent on something like their views on slavery.

  • I'm not exactly sure why you are using that scripture? Especially since you are using it out of context.
