  • I am saddened to let you all know that George passed away on the 16th December 2009.

Another victim of the big C.

  • Many thanks for the kind comments. I first met George in 1984 when I first arrived in Nimbin. I am proud to say he has been a friend also for all that time. Must have seen him play hundreds of times, and still enjoy every minute. Sadly I can only find three film clips of him. I do have copies of his three CD's.

The really sad thing as he told me a few nights ago is that he has played his last concert. Not going to go into details here Activist1952.

I suggest you make contact, soon.

  • Thanx Lantern10 for a chance to sing along with George one more time. I was sent this clip by Mookshan and posted it to facebook saying " Farewell my friend, see you at the great gig in the sky ".

I had a crush on George in 1978 and wrote a song called "Georgie" which was one of my first songs. We played in 3 bands together. We will play again somewhere someday....x

  • I'm aware. Have been trying to get his daughter Lara on the mobile but no luck. Will try her Mums number. I saw him in October on my way through back to Cairns. Want to invite him up if he wants. My name is Di

  • I've been listening to this guy for nearly 20 years - after I heard him sing at a party in Kuranda - and was stopped in my tracks. He became a friend. He has a few cds - probably stored under his bed somewhere! -which explains in part why he never quite made it it to the big time!

  • Microphone is good but lighting is all wrong. Don't listen to the performer - put the light in his face and highlight him! The lit background is irrelevant.

  • I am thoroughly impressed with the timbre of voice and quality of delivery. This guy could fill Carnegie Hall!
