In this video, I want to share with you a couple of reasons why you should start your own business. I want you to be doin' something you are passionate about doing. To focus your energies on what you have a burning desire to accomplish.

Today is the day you should start your own business.

Right now!

Why?

Reason one, job security. Yep. When I was a kid, a young scallywag, everyone said to get a corporate job.
Being self-employed, having your own business was too risky. Wrong! Today it is just the opposite.

When you work for someone else, you are exchanging, trading, your time for money. There is no equity in it.
It's kinda like paying rent.

All global economies, it doesn't matter where you live, are slowing down. The Baby Boomers are aging, and companies are reorganizing. I bet you or someone close to you has had to deal with a company downsizing. Aye, a lot of security there.

Reason two, passion. I'm a baby boomer. My generation, and I think all generations, want to do something that makes a difference in the world. We all want to do something we love, something we are passionate about. And ultimately, something that will make a difference. We want to give back.

So start your own business today. Take the skills you have right now and get to it. Geesh, Steve Jobs started Apple Computer in a garage. And many other entrepreneurs started with nothing.

Well, that isn't exactly true. They did start with a gut full of passion and tons of sweat equity.

This is something you can do right now. And remember, the most important thing is to be havin' fun.

First, talk with your parents.

Pick something that interests you.

Figure out who your customers will be.

Ask someone, maybe a parent, to help with your business plan.

Start your business, follow your plan, and adjust accordingly.

Yep, think I'll start building some small sailboats to sell. Really like the Stevenson Weekender. Pretty boat that builds fast & sails well. Don't want to be a mechanic forever. Love building boats and am pretty fair at it. Passion, thats the secret! Right on Capt Rob. Oh yea, if it doesn't sell I'll sail it in the Texas 200, maby.
