  • Nice of you to show us these picks. So how does the split thickness grafts do in the sunlight? Do the donor sites and graft sights burn super easy? Split thickness seems like a great way to go. Having never had them I wouldn't know about any complications. There must be some.

  • @johneastmond - no better than other graft's for sun due to being only 2 layers of skin for thickness. the donor sites do tan more than unscarred skin. the split thickness sheet graft has great results, especially in my case because because I hardly scar at all anyway, but the rate of take is not great. when I had the grafts redone in 2001, only 75% of the graft survived. otherwise it's the same as mesh grafts but without the mesh diamond pattern scars. (I also have a mesh graft)

  • @BurnScarred- Your scars look a lot like mine and from what I can see are on the same place! We're burn buddies! :) Luckily I only had 17% Could've been a lot worse. But mine are newer though. I just burned myself about a year ago now (right after new years). I still have to wear the compression garments. How long was it before you stopped having the tingling sensation without the compression? I'm starting to feel like I will never go without! Anyway, thanks for sharing, interesting to compare.

  • @britwhit2002 - it normally takes a year or two for the scars to mature, but it's hard to say how long the nerves will be tingling without seeing the scars, to know what type of scaring you have, and for an idea as to the depth, and any contractures and adhesion's, because they all interact with each other. But... thinks do get better over time. feel free to contact me anytime via youtube, email or skype

  • Its probably the most terrifying experience of any burn victims... I was 14 when I got burned.. 3rd degrees on my hand and leg thanks for sharing those with everyone very brave of you.

  • I got burned summer 2010, and searched for pictures like crazy to see what to expect, thanks for sharing this, looks like my burns , im burned 25% of my body mainly my both leggs ...tummy and hand/arm. healing more and more each day but will never look normal again=( they took skin from my hips , but u can hardly see it today .

  • Thank you for being brave enough to share your scares, I have them to I was burned 70% and though I am not sure I could do what you did on the video. What I want for people that have a friend or family that gets burned to understand is the people that love us never see the scares, they see the heart and try to imagine the pain and long road of recovery we have endured...I lead a full happy life and that God everyday for a second chance.

  • @funkybeatsnz1

2 months ago my 18 month old daughter poured a big cup of hot boiling tea andhad a third degree burn on her chest to her neck... they had to do skin grafts on it. its the size of a palm.. Since the day she got burned there isnt a day i dont worry and cry about what will happen to her in the future when she grows up with the scars.... I dont know what to do i am so scared...sometimes i just wish i never let the doctors do skin grafts..now she has 2 scars....

  • wow wow wow I can just so totally get all of the pics. thankyou so much for sharing!! Best I get clicking aye! Will let you no when I do!! Im new to this site so little slow when it comes to this sort of stuff hehe. so awesum thanks again xx

  • @funkybeatsnz1 - I could not agree more. I have found people see what they expect to see or want to see. if we don't make it a big deal, then they are a lot less likely to take notice. I'm glad you took the big step and now starting to live for YOU and not others, that shows a great deal of strength. well, I don't think I would call my scars or amputations sexy, otherwise I would not be single... lol I have seen many female survivors I call very beautiful including the scars or amputations
