This is my first film outside of any academic field. Craig, a photographer, and I teamed up to try out some effects we've both learnt from a podcast series called Film Riot. The filming took no more than a couple of hours (most of which was location searching for the outdoor shoot), all the special effects took a day to composite, and the editting took a couple of days. I still don't own a camera, but the one we used was a little JCV Everio HD Handycam borrowed by the local theatre company I'm associated with.

Another addition to my folio, except now, my films will continue to be made independant from uni. Each film I set out to make will aim to improve from its previous. So yes, I am aware of my own mistakes and areas that need work in my movies. I choose not to re-edit my movies and just move on to improve with a new one. It's all a learning curve and I much prefer to learn from my mistakes in film.

  • my only advice is to speed the car up, you are good, here is a link to my short film, i have a few so do look (:

just type this inn enjoi2281 boy meets volvo

    thanks alot

  • @enjoi2281 hey man, thats a good point. i checked out your version of a car hit and i love the extra fast pace to it. Its super sudden! Next time i put a car in another film of mine, ill definately take into consideration the speed of the car. I think what also would have made that shot better is if it was more close up to the person, so we less of the car traveling... but anyway, cheers for the tip.

  • what kindve camera do you use? if you don't mind me askin

  • @opp0628 I borrowed a little JCV Everio HD Handycam. It certainly was harder to control focus, being a small camera, but still did the job.
