Climax scene from the Malayalam movie "Manichitrathazhu". This movie was later remade to "Apthamitra" in Kannada, "Chandramukhi" in Tamil and Telugu & eventually "Bhool Bhulaiya" in Hindi. The actress in this clip went on to win the National Film Award for Best Actress for her memorable role in this movie. Watch as Nakulan (Suresh Gopi) forbids Ganga (Shobana) from leaving the house as Nagavalli appears in Shobana in rage....

Soundarya cannot come close to Shobhana when in talent, both dancing and acting. Telugu & Tamil actors are loud, noisy and they overact. They are not subtle, talented and realistic like Malayalam actors. People who are used to cheap, loud Telugu, Tamil and Hindi movies don't have the brains to appreciate Malayalam movies and are biased against Malayalam movies.

I guess being a National Award winner for best actress Shobana is clearly a cut above the rest. She, unlike Jyothika, Soundarya, Vidya or that bengali actress, did not have a frame of reference or source of inspiration for her performance. It was thoroughly original. As for talent, well, if someone can garner a second national award for Best Actress after a 10 year break with her comeback movie, THAT is talent beyond denial and Shobana did it with Mitr My Friend.

I come here to watch the scene, don't know the language but beautiful. Then I scroll down and I see people comparing. Yes its obvious Shobana did the best performance. No need to get excited and say it 1000 times. Get on with it.

shobhana's acting is always good. she is natural and lively. All the actors who acted as Ganga have done well in their own way.
