"...was baptized Kenneth..."after washing his sins, did they also brainwash him by philanthropically opening the gates of heaven by upgrading his name to Kenneth, for the name Marende (read heathen) is not sufficient in the eyes of god.

When he was sworn in, did he swear by the name Kenneth? It means he lied & he should be sworn in again!!!! Anyway, Baptism does not guarantee you smooth sailing but Salvation will. Get saved.
