The University of Calgary Solar Team on Race Day #4 of the 2011 World Solar Challenge.
We almost make it to Alice Springs on solar power alone. In the end we decide it is best to trailer the last little bit into Alice Springs.
Unfortunately I don't have any clips of it, but one of our drivers of our solar car hit the ditch at 60km/hr after a full sized house came down the highway at 100km/hr on a big truck. The driver was supposed to slow down and then gently pull off into the ditch however our driver decided to hit the ditch at full speed. This caused some damage to the car and some minor grief for the mechanical team on the next day...
I run into serious filming issues on Day 4, filming dozens of takes to get in a simple monologue!
Rob has an insightful moment about the sea breeze in Port Augusta...
As expected the next video will be all about Race Day #5!
Enjoy!
