Charter day at Preston

Saturday 8th March 2008 was a good day to go charter chasing at Preston, with two charters bound for Carlisle.

First off, BR 8P 4-6-2 number 71000 Duke of Gloucester departs with the Liverpool to Carlisle Cumbrian Coast Express, run by Railway Touring Company.

Secondly, DRS 37667 and 37688 Kingmoor TMD, with WCRC's 57601 blast out of Preston with Spitfire Tour's Cumbrian Coast Explorer, also bound for Carlisle.

Amazing video Dave, first ever steam I saw running was the Duke Of Gloucester which came unexpected in Wigan before I was trainspotting! A little bit of 'bad things to come' karmas came from this video, because now I have visions of our 37s being 37/6s, where they WILL put 57601 on the rear :( We should live in hope that 37423 comes on this tour!

Great video, i have always wanted to go to Carlisle on train, but never got the time, is there a web site where i can find out when the charters go, now i'm meeting other people on youtube who have the same hobby, there is so many great train videos.

Seems a little unusual for the Duke to haul MK II stock, but a unique change as its rare for steam locos to haul them stock!
