PBS Frontline details FBI Special Agent John O'Neill's efforts to sound the alarms about al Qaeda's growing reach and threat to the U.S., only to be branded a maverick and roundly ignored. O'Neill elf the FBI in the summer of 201 and took a new job as head of security at the World Trade Center, where he died on September 11th.
The 9/11 Commission's investigation revealed that America's $30 billion intelligence community, spread over more than a dozen agencies, was disorganized, fractured and impaired by organizational and legal restrictions on the sharing of information.
These disclosures directly relate to John O'Neill's story. He came tantalizingly close to possibly uncovering the 9/11 plot. But his investigations into the USS Cole terrorist attack and into Al Qaeda's presence in the United States were both undermined by the CIA and FBI's failure to share information with each other.
@ahaunting1 , You should watch FRONTLINE; Breaking the Bank... for some odd reason, I believe Ken Lewis. It was very uneducated as to how politics and wall street works.. They dumped Merrill Lynch on BoA knowing it was toxic...And Ken took the bait...

The man who spent years studying al-quaeda, attack on USS Cole, linking terrorists to each other was fired a week before 9/11 because he warned of the imminent attack and came to work in WTC where he died.
What a dark sense of humour from the government and other responsible for the attacks.

@lshocket Yes, but a Mitt Romney does not have the character of someone who is intelligent nor does he have any credibility when it comes to: 'Why are you in office'? 'Who put you here'?

The CIA told the FBI to take the fall...Read THE BLACK BANNERS by Ali Soufan, one of Mr. O'Neills agents.....The CIA F'D up. The white house F'd up....THE FBI WARNED THEM OVER AND OVER AGAIN...........O'Neill's unit knew right after the USS Cole bombing and the CIA told them to back off the case because it was intelligence not criminal or related to cole

@JeffreyJaguar Yes,he liked nice clothes and fancy restaurants, he was a bull in a china shop, but if the FBI listened to him they might have prevented 9/11. By the way Jeff, what have you ever accomplished?

John O'Neill is my friend's uncle who he pointed out in social studies today. I had to look this up for him :""( Wish they would have listened to him.

@irish89055 In general, you want intelligent people in places of power and influence and not people you would want to have a beer with. People with the capabilities to run the world don't have time to waste. America needs to nominate/elect people who are boring (like a Mitt Romney) rather than a complete moron who looks fun (Palin/Perry).

@zoso682 I think ole shazzbot may be on to something. I will have to check out that show. Terrible English??? His compound sentence was bettter than yours. So he misspelled profited, capitalized And, then used a period where a common should have been used, no apostrophes, missed a comma? In this venue he did ok, you pendantic jerk. You ended a sentence with a comma, started one with And. He made good points regarding Paulson and the other incompetents that drove the economy into the ground.

@lshocket the moral is that "intelligence expert" is frequently an oxymoron.... Gross incompetence by so many but not all...
