Animals floating in pools totally rock. My wife and I took a video of a dolphin on a raft, once.

They're really not bad swimmers. With those huge paws they can go fairly fast. It's usually not something they want to do every time but it's great exercise. Don't get to far from him, yes they can swim but they get tired out after a minute or so.
Now I have to ask, "Did Michael get his treats for showing his bravery?"

@Onesize17 I know what you mean! my dog when she just turned two my dad threw in the river thinking she'd swim...Sunk headfirst straight away had to dive all the way to the bottom to get her....you'd think she'd be scared after that but still almost falls in trying to get down the bank! hates a shower though :]!

Maple's a cutie! Many Basset hounds don't have positive buoyancy- unless they're really fat- they don't float. Mine used to sink like a rock! Had to get a life jacket for her- she loved fishing, but thought she could walk on lily pads :) Be careful with the first swimming experience! If you can talk 'em into it, get them exercise any way you can!
