@pcjudosambo I see the emphasis of Judo in Sambo,to me is just Judo with some wrestling.Now that I got that out of the way.I fucking LOVE IT!!! I got my ass kicked by two Sambo practitioners over 8 training sessions,a Russian Black belt in Judo (untouchable in stand up) and an American Brown Belt (Judo/wrestler/sambo). My game has improoved. Towards the end I slammed the brown belt once (only once), and was able to pull reversals on the black belt as he was throwing my ass on the ground.Loved it

@jaraman9 OK. How did he Modify them? I started "BJJ" since 1996 and am still searching for it. G's learned x% of Judo from Maeda, added things over the years from their matches and other arts (including judo, e.g. the triangle choke, ezekiel), each teacher teaches his/her own way/style .... but fundamentally it's judo. newaza focused judo in a culture environment that doesn't scare off most foreigners (but is less than it could be. don't ask me how, figure it out for yourselves.)

I am a 2 stripe blue belt under Relson Gracie, and I and guys at my gym asked him about it, and he clearly stated that their dad ( Helio) MODIFIED (not invented) the techniques the japanese (Maeda) taught to his brother (Carlos Gracie Sr.). I am not trying to make anybody on here mad but I just wanted to clarify this BJJ vs JUDO business as I love both arts and I think it is silly that people bicker instead of enjoying them.

Much respect for Sambo. YEs it is mostly Judo and JuJutsu (leg locks and most of the illegal Judo techiniques). Most Sambo players have ranking in Judo. What amazes me about Russians is that they can take any martial art and they can test and extract the practical techniques by practising on people on the streets..I love how sambo preserved most of the Judo throws and leg locks, which tell me that the samurai broke the art of killing down to the laws of motion and body mechanics

@judoman98 thats true but its not entirely judo,several regional styles wrestling are also easily observed in sambo and some use a jacket as well.

@judoman98 what he/she said is not idiotic what u said its true but also russian judo is now influenced by sambo although sambo was derived from judo
