  • How did you get the sound quality so authentic?

  • @FFM0594 Thanks what was recorded in the TOTP studio. No tricks.

  • Another TOTP classic saved from the bins of the BBC

  • Actually this one survives at the BBC too.

  • This video is two shows combined as one. Christie's performance is taken from ToTP, however this video is actually taken from German TV's 'DISCO' hence the muted links to Jimmy Savile and two different audiences. DISCO has a number of ToTP performances combined into their show which the BBC have wiped from their archives. Many thanks for posting the video.

  • i have loved this song since i was a kid an i still love it

  • This song was 40 years ago no.9 in the world charts #tony #christie

  • This song was 40 years ago no.1 in Germany #tony #christie

  • Actually, I'd put money this isn't TOTP. If you look at the microphone, it's different from the ones used on TOTP at the time. Usually they were the pencil Mics (often with a windshield if singing live) of slightly fatter with an insert the same shape as the plastic thing inside a kinder egg. I think the German editors put Jimmy over the top.

  • Written by Neil Sedaka, who didn't release his own version until 1977.

  • boss song! :)

  • FALKIRK FC SONG CHEESEY EH ???????

  • Whoa, is that what he looked like back in 1971; wow he looked so different!

  • i can recall that T.Rex, Olivia Newton-John, and Deep Purple appeared on the DISCO studio on January 15, 1972. but neither Tony Christie or Middle of the Road failed to perform their hits. because they did not make it to Germany, but the wiped TOTP performance of this was shown.
