  • Thank you, dasteufelund and crazyninjaful! Khaner didn't "feel" one ounce of this solo, and rushed right through all the held notes....exactly what flutist are taught not to do from square one. I wouldn't mind so much if he didn't have the attitude....you'd think he'd have something to back it up.

  • I think this clip is a good example for flutists of what not to do...

  • LOL. People talk so much crap but none of us are sitting principal in the Philly Symphony or Professor at Curtis Institute of music one of the most selective school in the world like Khaner is. hmmm.

  • @Schubertfinished

i agree about people being too critical... i see enough of it on rock/pop videos. No matter what our feelings are on this clip, it's ok to have favorites... i really like CSO, Berlin, etc. But like Schubertfinished pointed out, he does teach at 2 of the major conservatories in this country & play in a highly reputable orchestra. I've heard other Philly recordings that sound great. It's better to be respectful than overly critical... we're not the ones playing in Philly.

  • @atecia I think it's the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra since he's principle flutist of that orchestra so I would assume I'm right?

  • This is the most lame version I've ever hear...too bad!

  • @gankstro tempo is relative to the expression of the work. Which is a common knowledge more of European approach than the Americans, as you can hear in many Montreal, Berlin, and Orch. de Paris recordings, I will say, he does play very much with the conductor, but soloists really have a lot of say in a such prominent passage like this.

  • @keane5417 lawl gotta play in tempo brah. The tempo is already set before he starts. So he isn't rushingand your a toal dooooshah and i jizzed ma pants at 1:15

  • what orchestra is this?

  • Oh go piccolo! Great articulation and intonation, goes without saying, don't you think picc just adds something sparkly :)

  • It just sounds like it is lacking the immense emotion that this solo is so famous for. Any amateur flautist can play this solo and zip through it like he did.
