The Marantz Model 2500 Stereophonic Receiver is also the rarest of the vintage Marantz Receivers as it was only built for the first couple of months of 1978 and then replaced by the Marantz Model 2600 Stereophonic Receiver. All of the specs on the 2600 are the same as on the 2500 EXCEPT that the 2600 is rated at 300 Watts Continuous RMS/Channel X 2 @ 8 ohms and 400 Watts Continuous RMS/Channel X 2 @ 4 ohms. Both have massive Toroidal power supplies with dual secondaries.

The Marantz Model 2500 Stereophonic Receiver is rated at 250 Watts Continuous RMS/Channel X 2 @ 8 ohms @<= 0.03% THD, and 330 Watts Continuous RMS/Channel @ 4 ohms @ <= 0.05% THD, from 20 Hz - 20,000 Hz. The Net Weight is 60.3 lbs. It is the second most powerful receiver ever built by Marantz. It is also better-built and more compact than the Pioneer SX-1980 Stereo Receiver.

This amplituner is the absolute culmination of everything that has been achieved in the category: an analogue radio.

@MrCanadianPride i agree about the 2265!Im using my friends 2265 on one of my pair of pioneer hpm-100's.The sound is incredible. That receiver seems like it is putting out more wattage than it is rated at!It makes those hpms play like a got 200 watts goin to them but only have 65 watts!Im working on finding me a marantz receiver for my two pairs and or an pioneer sx1280 receiver to drive them. But with marantz, you cant go wrong!
