  • @KateFan . Yes, I remember the North British diesel loco ( 00:21 ) in the 'seventies'. Some of the last locos to leave the yard went to Wales Railway Centre, Cardiff (1988-1989), and I remember getting underneath to grease the bearings before the locos were moved. There is now a Railway Preservation group at Barry, see map of their network at Wikipedia "Barry_Island_Railway".

  • sad site glad sume locos gote prerserved live for ever steam

  • What a shame

  • @Natbilltv

The song is a modernized version of Beethoven "Moonlight Sonata"

  • very ghostly isnt it

  • @14omega28ok A gas tank doesn't contain enough high pressure working fluid to tear itself apart and send shards of itself flying for hundreds of meters, and it doesn't depend on active monitoring and lots of parts doing their job properly to maintain structural integrity.

I get what you're saying. When you actually go around looking inside a steam locomotive, it's... hard to describe. It's art and science, it's history, nostalgia and beauty. But I'm glad I never had to actually work IN one.

  • @Wafflepudding The risk of a well maintained boiler exploding was about the same Risk as your Gas tank exploding from the heat on a hot day

  • @14omega28ok *shrugs* Steam trains and nostalgia are cool, but at least an electrodiesel won't have a catastrophic boiler explosion that turns the engine into an oversized frag grenade. I like these trains, but I just have a general love for technology.

  • is this the them song from DR. Frankin
