FFX NSG Challenge - #9 Crawler

One important thing to note about this battle is that after this battle you do not get access to Yuna until the next boss fight. Since the next boss fight is a very Aeon reliant battle, we need to keep Grand Summon for that fight, and not use it here. One should notice that using grand summon would not help anyways, since after one overdrive your Aeon will surely be killed.

The first issue is the Negator, which stops magic and Aeon casting. It has 1000 life, so you need to take it out before the quite fast Crawler takes you out. Do not attack the Crawler, especially with lightning based attacks, because he will counter attack with Assault. You need to be careful when killing the Negator in the way I did because I had many issues where the Crawler killed Rikku on his first turn. Being in such a low level gives very little chance of me reviving Rikku and having her live long enough to attack. To solve this I gave her a little bit more hp by buying a Seeker's Targe (+10% hp)

After the Negator is destroyed, you need to kill the Crawler before it uses Mana Beam, or have an Aeon take the hit for you. The best way to do this is to summon Ixion, use Thor's Hammer and take the Mana Beam, then finish him off with Rikku.

NSG stands for No Sphere Grid. In this challenge I will be running through Final Fantasy X with one simple rule: Never touch the sphere grid. This ultimately means no skills or magic past what characters start with will be learned, and no stats will ever be increased (basically like being on level 1 the entire game). There are no exceptions in this challenge, the sphere grid must never be used.
