STORYTELLERS is an instructional documentary about television storytelling aimed at senior high school or undergraduate journalism and documentary students. Produced in 1999, the documentary follows a crew of Carleton University journalism students, CBC video journalist Steve Fischer and producer Dian Duthie. We also hear from veteran documentary and current affairs producers now TV journalism educators, Lionel Lumb and Janice Neil. Although television and video production technologies have advanced considerably STORYTELLERS, a 2000 Broadcast Education Association award winner, still holds up as a building block for teaching the principles and practices of news, current affairs and documentary storytelling. STORYTELLERS Part One introduces the main characters and the objectives of the documentary.
