Matt and Julie, winners of the 2009 Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestra Concerto Competition, play the first movement of Franz Krommer's Concerto for Two Clarinets at the concert on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Both are high school students in the Pittsburgh region.

  • Perhaps I should have said that my comment is in reply to previous comments! These two players are great.

  • Personally, I loathe 'showmanship', especially in classical players. Who really wants to see them swaying about etc?

  • Expression and body movement? These aren't pop stars. Classical instrumentalists are supposed to put technique first, not showmanship.

  • Although this was a stunning recording, the clarinetists had NO expression or body movement what so ever. It's almost robotic. Also, I thought the orchestra was pretty scrappy, but that may be because this is a garbage camcorder recording. I did envy the great tone and great sound.

  • Wonderful Performance!!!!!!!! Both of you will become well known clarinet virtuosos if you keep this up. You could have a wonderful career. Top notch quality.

  • Good times! I remember playing in this concert, but I never realized that we actually sounded this great.
