Black Roses Red; A Jemi Story (Chapter 4, Part 3)

That 5-letter word "D-a-d-d-y" kept circulating through my mind as I suddenly felt a hard, stinging lump form in my throat. I could feel tears burning the rims of my pure eyes, the thoughts, and the flashbacks they were all coming back to me.

Flashback;

Sterling and me where sitting on the brown leather couch in the living room on July 16th. We were watching re-runs of friends. This is our idea of perfect. Just us two sitting, relaxing and eating pineapple and cheese pizza, I would be snuggling up in his arms as he holds me tight to his chest. This moment was indescribable.

He places a hand on her stomach and looks down at Demi. "Little Sophie Lovato" He gently leans in and kisses her softly, yet tenderly.

I looked up at him and just stared into his deep brown chocolate eyes. "Promise me, something".

"Anything" he said to as he stroked my cheek gently with his thumb sending electrical currents travel through my body.

I looked up at him as tears begin to slowly emerge from my eyes and trickle the contour of my face. I whispered through my tears "don't leave me" my voice cracked as I buried my head into his chest. Tears continued to stream down my face, soaking his shirt.

He gently tilted my head up with his index finger and stroked the tears away. "I would never, ever, do such a thing" he spoke in a reassuring tone as he planted a small kiss on my forehead.

I smiled and rested my head onto his chiselled chest and slowly fell asleep to the sound of his breathing.

I blinked rapidly as tears slowly began to spill down the contour my face.

"Mommy, are you ok?" she sweetly asked me.

I sniffled and began to wipe my tears away. "I'm fine, mommy just tired that's all" I said to her.

She gently rolled her sleeve down and began to wipe my tears away. I laughed a little. "Thank you sweetie" I kissed her forehead. "You can sleep with me tonight, ok" I scooped her tiny body into my arms and took her upstairs into my room

"Arms up" I asked her.

She giggled lifted her arms up and I slide her nightdress over her tiny frame. "There, you look pretty" she smiled and kissed my cheek and ran over to get a bedtime story; she got the book "Cinderella" her favourite book.

I sat down on her bed and pulled her close into my arms as I started to read the story to her "Once upon a time, there was a girl named Cinderella"

-10 minutes later-

10 minutes later and she was already sleeping in my arms. I lay her gently down on my bed. I lay next to her as I bring her close to me. I moved her bangs that cover her face. "Mommy will always be here for you no matter what" I whispered and gently kissed her forehead. I wrapped her little blankey around her tiny body and brought the covers tightly to her and brought her into my arms keeping her safe as she slept.
