Before crossing the Jamaica Bay, the train stopped by the workers. They requested to get a ride across the bay, considering its a looooong walk across, the Train Operator let them inside for a ride. When one of them gets inside he says "Thanks for the lift!" This video was taken on December 28, 2008 at 3:21 PM.

  • Believe it or not, we usually walk across it(the bay)everyday. Judging by the time that you posted above, I would say we were on a trouble call(maybe something wrong with the switches or signals). I'd say from where the train picked us up, it would be a about fifty minute walk to Broad Channel.

  • Shit! That sucks! Having to walk a 50 minute walk during mid winter? Not to mention the strong winds around there. I'm surprised you guys don't ask for a lift more often...

  • Jeez. I need to lose some weight(I'm the thanks for the lift guy).

  • haha it's cool that you found this video! If you had to walk across, how long would it take? Also do you remember this specific situation?

  • That was one ill video, dawg!!!!

  • I don't think the Trains run much faster than 35mph(on all routes). The reason all Trains slow down on the approach(ramp) is because the signals are on time delay. You have to approach the bridge slow in order for the signals to turn green. They don't want you gunning the Train up and over the bridge. If something goes wrong on the Bridge and the Train Operator is driving the Train too fast, he might not be able to react in time, and the potential consequences are disastrous.

  • @SpikeMauler

Can you tell me why trains run so slow on this route? Any technical problems? I have never seen them even crossing 35 mph. Also i have seen that only one train passes on these bridges while the other waits or slows down on the ramp. Isn't it?

  • am guessing since you mention switches or signals ur a signal maintainer? or track worker? i no there is a track headquarters by broad channel station
